Correction Policy

Bihar Web (hereinafter referred to as “Bihar Web” / “We” / “Us” / “Our”) is committed to providing accurate and reliable information to our readers. Through this Correction Policy, we aim to inform you about the corrective measures we take when we find that incorrect information has been published on our website. We understand our accountability to our readers, and we take full responsibility for making corrections when necessary and informing you of these corrections in a timely manner.

Premise

At Bihar Web, we strive to present accurate and complete news reports based on all available information at the time of publication. We are committed to quickly responding and correcting any errors in the material published on our website as soon as we become aware of them. As a digital platform, we make corrections and clarifications through social media posts, editor’s notes, and by updating the content directly on our website.

In cases where a major mistake has the potential to spread misinformation, we will apologize to our readers in a clear and timely manner.

Updating a Report

We maintain the practice of including notes on articles if they have been updated. It is essential for us to use corrections, clarifications, or editor’s notes to inform our readers whenever we correct a significant mistake, edit a story to include new information, or add comments from stakeholders. If we find an error in a fact-check (done in accordance with our [Fact-Check Policy]), we will update the article and clearly mention at the top of the article, in bold:
[Correction: updated Info…]
We also explain the correction made in detail.

Additionally, we encourage our community members to notify us of potential corrections. You can reach out to us at editor @biharweb.com , and we provide an option at the bottom of every article to suggest corrections, if any.

Corrections

If we are making a substantive correction to an article, photo caption, headline, graphic, video, or any other material, we promptly publish a correction explaining the reason for the change.

Clarifications

When the journalism itself is factually correct, but the language used to explain the facts is unclear or insufficient, we rewrite the language and provide clarification to the story. Clarifications are also used when we initially failed to include a comment or response that has since been added to the story, or when new reporting has shifted our understanding of an event.

Editor’s Notes

If a correction calls into question the entire substance of an article or raises significant ethical concerns, we may add an editor’s note. This note will be followed by an explanation of what is at issue, and it will be approved by a senior editor before being added to the story.

Other Corrections Policies

  • If a reader points out an error in the comment section, our community engagement team will indicate that it has been corrected in the comments.
  • If we publish erroneous information on our social media platforms, we will correct it directly on those platforms. If we are unable to make an edit, we will retract the incorrect information.
  • We do not attribute blame to individual reporters or editors (e.g., “because of a reporting error” or “because of an editing error”).

Reporting Inaccuracies

If you believe a story we have published contains inaccurate information, please use the “Suggest A Correction” section that appears at the end of every article. You can also contact us directly via email at:

Take-Down Requests

As part of our editorial policy, we do not entertain take-down requests. If a subject claims that a story is inaccurate, we will investigate the matter and, if necessary, publish a correction.

In cases where fairness demands an update or follow-up on a previous story, we will make the necessary editorial changes without removing the article as though it had never been published.

If we have published publicly available personal data, we will only consider take-down requests if the individual involved is at risk of physical harm due to the publication of such information.

AI-Assisted Content Modification

To ensure the accuracy of our content, we utilize AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and others). These tools allow us to implement corrections or updates quickly and efficiently. If you believe that any information in our content is incorrect, you can submit the correction details to us, and we will promptly update the story and image. Please email us with the story link at:
